Rivanna and Ayla Product Design Case Study

The engagement covered two products for the same founder. Rivanna needed a website for a legal-tech product aimed at transactional attorneys. Ayla was a mobile AI companion concept for older adults, with conversational assistance, reminders, and personal settings. Design Overflow created both experiences from the ground up.

The Challenge

The shared founder did not mean the products could share an interface. Rivanna had to make specialist legal technology legible to a professional audience. Ayla had to make chat, voice input, reminders, and settings easier to navigate for older adults. Each product needed its own hierarchy, tone, and interaction model.

Our Approach

Rivanna used a restrained dark interface with network and wave graphics to give the dense product story a clear visual hierarchy. Ayla took the opposite visual direction: a soft palette, larger type, clear bottom navigation, and visible text and voice controls. Reminder management, profile settings, quiet hours, and check-ins were separated into direct, labeled flows instead of being buried inside the conversation.

The Result

Design Overflow delivered the Rivanna website design and the Ayla mobile product design as two distinct systems. The founder says both were tailored to their users. No launch, usability, or adoption result was recorded as part of this case study.

Working with Maaz on Ayla and Rivanna was incredibly smooth. He helped design the app and the website from scratch, and tailored the design to the needs of our users.
