Branding & UI/UX for a Rally Crowdstreaming Platform

Pineamite is a UK startup building what it calls "crowdstreaming" for grassroots rally motorsport. Fans film stages on their phones, upload the footage, and Pineamite turns it into a live, multi-angle stream of an event that would otherwise have no broadcast coverage at all. The platform serves two very different audiences: fans in the stands filming and watching, and the drivers themselves, who get organized footage of every stage they ran plus sponsor-ready edits for building their own audience and sponsorship case. I designed the complete brand identity and the v1 UI/UX for both the fan-facing app and the driver-focused app.

The Challenge

Grassroots rally lacks the broadcast infrastructure motorsport fans expect elsewhere, and Pineamite's two audiences want almost opposite things from the product. Fans want something fast, fun, and gamified enough to make filming and uploading feel worth it mid-event. Drivers want a serious, credible tool for building a sponsorship portfolio out of that same footage. Both needed to read as one coherent brand.

Our Approach

Brand identity started from the "Film. Upload. Get Featured Live." mechanic at the center of the product: punchy, energetic, built for a fan pulling out their phone mid-stage. The fan app's UI/UX leaned into that immediacy with a gamified points-and-rewards structure for uploads. The driver-facing side of the brand needed a different register. Turning race footage into something a driver could hand to a sponsor meant designing that experience to feel more like a performance dashboard than a social app, while keeping it under the same visual identity.

The Result

Pineamite's fan app is live on both the App Store and Google Play, and the brand identity now covers everything from the fan-facing streaming experience to the driver dashboard. The company has since covered real UK grassroots rallies, including the Cambrian Rally and the Jim Clark Rally, using the app in the field.
