Nutrigram Nutrition App Product Design Case Study

This case study covers an earlier version of Nutrigram built around scanned and manual meal logging, daily nutrition tracking, friend leaderboards, and social challenges. Design Overflow designed the mobile experience. Nutrigram's current public site now emphasizes AI food scans, macro tracking, calorie insights, and a progress dashboard, so the product has continued to change since this engagement.

The Challenge

The main design problem was repetition. Logging the first meal is easy; recording meals day after day is where friction appears. The scanner and manual entry needed a short, clear path, while the leaderboard had to stay available without interrupting the core tracking task.

Our Approach

We made scanning the primary action and kept manual entry as a visible fallback. Clear icons and a pink-and-red accent system separated logging, progress, and social actions. Friend challenges and the leaderboard connected back to the daily record instead of becoming a separate experience with its own navigation burden.

The Result

Nutrigram founder Hassaan Ali reports that user retention increased by 40% after launch. Design Overflow did not have access to the baseline, cohort definition, or measurement window, so this is a client-reported result rather than an independently verified figure.

The Nutrigram app Maaz designed has revolutionized how our clients track their nutrition. The interface is clean, engaging, and incredibly user-friendly. Our user retention has increased by 40% since launch!
